If hosta bores you, consider any of the Coral Bells! The popularity of this old garden plant has been on the rise due to the introduction of many new varieties by some adventuresome hybridizers. Most heuchera cultivars are flowering in early June and don't stop until the end of August. They are tolerant of juglone from Black Walnut trees. Best when grown in full sun, but they will tolerate some shade, too. Divide every three years. Large, shiny, star-shaped leaves range in color from deep olive-green to purplish-bronze with amethyst purple undersides. Beautiful to plant several different colors together!
